Superphone expectations heighten
15th January 2010 | Posted by Noemi
Even though it hasn’t launched yet, discussion levels have been very high around Google’s first mobile phone, created by in-house team Nexus One technology.
Powered by its ambition of becoming the leading player in the smartphone market, Google has entered a market dominated by the iPhone, Blackberry and the recently launched Palm Pre, claiming that it has a control of the complete end-to-end user experience of the handset, from procurement to the delivery of web services to the device.
The Giant’s brand power has permitted it to make a huge impact and expectation is rising daily pre-launch, fuelled by a very well designed step by step launch strategy. It first made Android available to handset manufacturers in autumn 2007, which left them yearning for more and early last December we heard some rumours about company’s employees experiencing the “superphone”, which was confirmed a few weeks after. An invitation-only news conference in the middle of CES 2010 fuelled further excitement. Rumours circulate about pricing and potential mobile operators.
Google has without doubt managed to create expectancy… but have they managed to create an “iPhone killer” or just another Android smartphone? We hope to be the judge of that very soon!
