Continuing our birthday celebrations (a few days late!)...

It is difficult to remember watching an online videoclip or sharing the most hilarious fall without counting on YouTube. It was surprisingly only five years ago (14 February 2005) that the domain was set out.

Since the start, the site has been giving people a voice creating “a place where anyone with a video camera and an internet connection could share a story with the world” said Chad Hurley, co-founder and CEO of the site, in a blog post.

Whilst they have yet to pull a profit, they still tend to innovate with an eye toward providing the best possible experience supporting 1080p, 3D, or deploying auto-speech recognition technology.
